2024 End of Year Highlights

As 2024 comes to a close, all of us at Compo Arts extend our heartfelt gratitude for your incredible support during a year filled with artistic milestones and inspiration!

From Charles Compo’s participation in exhibitions across the globe to his works being acquired by prestigious collections, this year has been nothing short of extraordinary.

As we reflect on this past year and look forward to the possibilities of 2025, we remain profoundly grateful for the community that celebrates and uplifts Compo’s artistic journey.

January

The Center For Contemporary Art  
2024 International Juried Exhibition

Compo’s “Who Is That Masked Man?” exhibited at The Center for Contemporary Art’s as part of their 2024 International Juried Exhibition, juried by Hunter O’Hanian. The CCA received over 900 entries from 311 artists. In the end just 50 pieces were selected, Compo’s being one of them.

February

Abington Art Center 
Annual Juried Exhibition

Compo’s painting “There’s A Shooter Down at The School” exhibited at Abington Art Center’s for their 2024 Annual Juried Show. The theme of this year’s juried exhibition was named “Feeling Blue: Navigating Challenges Through Art” which considered art as a tool for healing.

The Williamsburg Art & Historical Center
Spring, Celebration for the Earth

Charles' paintings, "A Walk in The Park" and "Running out of Time" were exhibited at the WAH's Spring show. In celebration of earth and the revival associated with Spring, these works consider nature in bloom. Another fantastic show at the WAH!

Brooklyn Waterfront Artists Coalition
Realism vs. The Abstract Show

For this exhibition, BWAC curated works that told a compelling story of the relationship between realism and abstraction. Compo’s “The Followers”, "The Ravishes of War", and "There's One In Every Crowd" were exhibited at the show, works that dance the line between what is real and what is imagined.

Edward Hopper House Museum 
Members Exhibition in Spring 2024. 


The Spring show showcased artists in celebration of Jo & Edward's 100th Wedding Anniversary this year. “Red Light Green Light” was on exhibit for this show.

June
Art Society of Old Greenwich    
VISUAL GOLD

Juried by Mariya Rivera, two of Compo’s works were selected for the exhibition: “Two Scoundrels Disguised As Nuns Hide a Pot of Gold in A Fishbowl” and “A Waiter Down at The HotPot”. Charles received a Gold Award for his painting, “Two Scoundrels Disguised As Nuns Hide a Pot of Gold in A Fishbowl”.  

July
Chianciano Biennale 2024

This Summer, Compo exhibited "Good Dog" at the 2024 Chianciano Biennale just outside of Tuscany. His painting “Good Dog” received an award for Abstract Art and was acquired by the Chianciano Art Museum as part of their permanent collection. 

August
Naturalist Gallery   

Gavin Coates, art journalist, published an article spotlighting Compo’s work entitled “Confronting Violence Through Art in Charles Compo's Work”. The article discusses some of his most striking pieces while inviting viewers to reflect on the complex and unsettling issues of our time. 

September
The Center for Contemporary Arts    
8th Annual National Juried Art Competition


"There's A Shooter Down At The School " exhibited at The Center for Contemporary Arts in Abilene, TX. The painting was a reaction to the tragic school shooting in Uvalde TX, which is a short drive from the exhibition. The juror, Adela Andea, thoughtfully reviewed over 300 submissions before selecting this painting to be included in the show.

Maryland Federation of Art 
After Dark 2024

Compo’s "Red Light Green Light"  is exhibited at Maryland Federation of Art's After Dark 2024 Exhibit. After Dark was an immersive art exhibit that invites you to explore the enigmatic beauty that unfolds when the sun sets. 

November
The Bristol Art Museum
Juried Biennial Exhibition

Compo’s painting "Running Out of Time" exhibited at The Bristol Art Museum’s 2024 Members' Exhibition, Visions! His first show at the museum.

December
The Williamsburg Art & Historical Center
Joy To The World 

Finally and most recently, Compo exhibited a new piece at the Williamsburg Art and Historical Center, “Hitting The Overtones To Get The Fat Sound in The City”. The piece was featured in their “Joy To The World” show, another great exhibition by Yuko Nii and a fantastic way to end the year!
